KS3 CURRICULUM

The Art Department, at St. Ronan s College, strive to provide an exciting and challenging curriculum which reflects the needs of our pupils; unlocking their creative potential. We encourage pupils to be enthusiastic about Art. The department provides an opportunity for pupils to actively engage in the creative process of art, craft & design. Pupils are encouraged to become confident in taking creative risks, learning from experience, working with a wide range of materials, media, processes and technologies. Pupils develop an awareness of the creative industries and grow as effective, independent creative individuals with critical and reflective thinking skills.

KS4 CURRICULUM

We currently offer 4 pathways at KS4:

  • GCSE Art & Design (CCEA)
  • GCSE Contemporary Crafts (CCEA)
  • OCNNI Level 2 Certificate in Creative Arts and Digital Technologies
  • Occupational Studies in Graphic Design

KS5 CURRICULUM

At Post 16 there is one pathway offered by the Art department:

  • A- Level Art & Design (CCEA)

EXTRA CURRICULAR

– Key Stage 3 After School Art Club

– GCSE/AS/A2 Before/After School Art Club for additional support

CAREER PATHWAYS

Art and Design provides important opportunities to develop young peoples practical, exploratory, expressive, design and problem-solving skills. Young people develop concepts and skills relating to creativity and expression, analysing and interpreting observations and experiences, and the communication of ideas, thoughts and feelings. EXPERIENCES (e.g. trips, projects, etc.):

At St Ronan’s College, Key Stage 3 pupils participate in a wide variety of internal and external art competitions. We take great pride in celebrating their amazing skills and talents!

Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils immerse themselves in numerous art projects, collaborating with external agencies and engaging in practical workshops led by visiting artists. Additionally, there is an annual trip to the Ulster Museum in Belfast to view the True Colours and RUA art exhibitions.
