It is my great privilege, on behalf of our Governors, staff and pupils, to welcome you to St Ronan’s College. St Ronan’s is a vibrant, inclusive and ambitious Catholic school community where our young people are at the heart of everything we do. As a non-selective, all-ability, co-educational voluntary grammar school, we are proud to serve the young people and families of Lurgan, Craigavon and the wider community.
Our vision is simple but powerful: to nurture a love of learning by recognising and developing the talents of all, in a community where everyone is encouraged and supported to be their best.
At the heart of St Ronan’s are our core values: Belong, Believe, Become. They reflect who we are as a College and what we want every young person to experience. We want every pupil to belong to a community where they are known, valued and included; to believe in themselves, in their potential and in what they can achieve; and to become confident, compassionate and successful young adults, ready to make their contribution to the world.
Our values place our pupils firmly at the centre of everything we do and reflect our commitment to inclusion, high aspirations and high expectations for every young person.
Excellent learning and teaching are at the heart of College life, supported by a broad and responsive curriculum which recognises that success can take many different forms. We celebrate academic achievement while also providing a range of pathways that enable our young people to develop their talents, pursue their interests and prepare confidently for their next steps.
Education at St Ronan’s extends far beyond examination results. We want our pupils to grow intellectually, spiritually, socially and personally. Through sport, music, drama, faith, leadership, volunteering, clubs, societies, educational visits and the many other opportunities available within College life, our young people are encouraged to discover their talents, develop confidence and resilience, build friendships and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Central to all of this are relationships. We are proud of the strong pastoral care within St Ronan’s and of the positive relationships between our pupils and staff. We want our College to be a place characterised by respect, kindness and high expectations, where every young person feels a genuine sense of belonging and knows that there are adults who believe in them. Positive relationships and pastoral care are identified as particular strengths within the College.
Our state-of-the-art campus has opened an exciting new chapter in the story of St Ronan’s College, providing an exceptional environment in which our whole College community can learn, work and grow together. However, a school is much more than its buildings. What makes St Ronan’s special is its people: our wonderful pupils, our committed staff, our supportive parents and carers, our Governors, our parishes and the wider community.
